SLOW CORE IMPROV
Teacher: Keiko Agena
— prerequisites: none
Performance: no performance
Outside In has put together an Improv class for Asian American performers in Los Angeles to meet other Asian performers for friendship, collaboration and community building. And fun!
Regardless of whether the medium is film, television, theatre or improv, the core of all great scenework is the same. It’s the actor’s ability to listen. “Slow core” improv class utilizes the Meisner technique of intentional listening and observation to explore how hypersensitive we can be to our scene partners. Comedic moments, when they arise, are born from this hyper honest observation. Over the course of six weeks we will practice trusting ourselves and our partners. Our focus will be on letting the character relationship lead to rich and satisfying scenes.
