Great horror isn’t about making audiences laugh—it’s about making them hold their breath. This class explores the craft of creating suspense, dread, and genuine fear through narrative improvisation. Students learn techniques for building tension, atmosphere, pacing, and psychological storytelling while collaboratively creating terrifying improvised narratives.Drawing on more than thirty-five years of experience directing and performing narrative horror, Joseph Limbaugh draws on techniques developed through productions including Dark Gables, The King in Yellow, Improvised Ghost Stories, Lovecraft Improvised, Twilight Zone Improvised, Rou de Monsters, Carcosa, and, most recently, Fantastic Tales.
