BRIDGING THE GAP
Prerequisites: experienced improvisors & actors
Performances: in-class showcase
This class will focus on bridging the gap between traditional acting techniques and improvisation. The class will explore Earle Gister’s Yale Technique of Acting, Meisner, and a wide range of techniques and exercises to develop the actor’s ability to not only live believably under imaginary circumstances, but to access the emotional stakes of the moment. This class will begin with exploring ensemble exercises, text analysis, rehearsed scripted scenes (as well as cold readings) and will progress into a long form improvised narrative class. This class will be a combination of experienced actors as well as improvisors. The class requires outside practice with a partner in the first couple of weeks.
